Celebrate the end of Election season with purple wine

With this year’s election thankfully coming to a close, I’m sure there’s one thing that Republicans and Democrats, Reds and Blues, can all agree on: We’re all exhausted and could all use a big glass of purple wine.

And what better way to celebrate democracy than to sip on the 2016 Colorado Governor’s Cup double gold-medal winner: Bookcliff Vineyards Syrah. Also included in the 2016 Governor’s Cup case of the 12 best wines in Colorado, this wine is as good as any California syrah and is the perfect cure for a political hangover.

Pouring an inky purple, Bookcliff Syrah has bold notes of ripe blackberry and fresh cracked pepper. Big, lush and easy to drink, the palate has ripe berry sweetness, a thick tannin structure and earthy acidity all working in concert to make a full-bodied charmer. A dry, peppery finish and a lingering berry aftertaste finish out a very electable flavor platform.

Perfect for singular sipping, Bookcliff Syrah has a huge mouthfeel that doesn’t need much else. But that doesn’t mean it can’t use a running mate. Its balanced acidity makes it great with sharp cheeses and its peppery qualities make it ideal for steaks and stews. Cheers!
