Riesling Cultivar Camp, Broomfield

The 3rd in the series of Cultivar Camps, focusing on Riesling this time around, will highlight some of the international benchmarks and standard bearers for this grape variety with an overview of the history and distribution of Riesling in numerous styles.  This Riesling exploration will be led by Mr. Morten Hallgren, owner and winemaker at Ravine Wine Cellars in Geneva, NY.   He has made wine at his family’s estate in Provence, France as well as at Dr. Konstantin Frank’s Wine Cellar on Keuka Lake in New York’s Finger Lakes.

We will also do a blind tasting of some Colorado Rieslings against those from other regions in similar styles and price ranges.

The tasting will begin at 1 PM at the Colorado Dept. of Agriculture, 305 Interlocken Parkway, Broomfield, CO 80021.  The morning insurance seminar will only be offered in Grand Junction on Aug. 14, but will be available on-line or by web-cast on Aug. 14.
